Elmhurst Cop Chases Dirt Bikers, Who Get Away: Police

In another case, four cars were burglarized at a house in a local neighborhood, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving the chasing of dirt bike riders, car burglaries, soliciting without a license, assault, a stolen phone, stolen money and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Chasing dirt bikes

  • An officer tried to stop two suspects on dirt bikes about 4 p.m. Thursday at Poplar Avenue and May Street. They fled and were last seen heading west on Hampshire Avenue.

  • Someone rummaged through four cars overnight Wednesday in a driveway in the 600 block of North Indiana Street. A hard hat and a raincoat were stolen.

Soliciting without a license

  • A 19-year-old Boca Raton, Florida, man was cited about 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of East Oriole Avenue on a charge of soliciting without a license.

Stolen money

  • Someone stole money from a purse on Tuesday or Wednesday last week in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road. An investigation is pending.

Stolen phone

  • Two people stole a phone from a man's suit pocket about noon Thursday in a medical office at 1200 S. York St.

Assault

  • Police responded to an assault about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Schiller Street. An investigation is pending.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop the driver of a white Buick Enclave about 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Frontage Road and Grand Avenue. The car was connected to a felony, police said. The driver sped away east on North Avenue into Northlake.
