Elmhurst Cops Arrest Ax-Wielding Burglary Suspect: Police

Officers interrupted a burglary in progress and arrested the man, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – A man breaking into a house in an Elmhurst neighborhood Tuesday morning was arrested, police said.

Shortly after 9 a.m., officers went to a house near Pick and Albert avenues after getting 911 calls about a man breaking the front door and windows with an ax, police said in a social media post.

Police said they found the man in the garage of the home. Officers arrested the man and took him to a hospital for an evaluation.

Neither the homeowner nor anyone else was injured in the incident, police said.

Police said the man was a neighbor of the victim and that there was no more danger to the public.
