Elmhurst Cops Collect Gun Stolen In 1989: Report
A family wanted to turn in two guns after a domestic disturbance, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a gun stolen in 1989, retail theft, theft of services, an abandoned car and solicitors without permits. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Gun stolen in 1989
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of North Highland Avenue. Officers were told that the house's occupants wanted to turn in two locked guns for destruction. The guns were taken to the police station. The serial number for one indicated it was stolen in Chicago in 1989. An investigation is pending.

- Celeste Radcliffe, 37, of Maywood, and Shakonna Thomas, 29, Chicago, were arrested about 3 p.m. Monday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., on charges of burglary and felony retail theft. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Jose Perez, 38, of Chicago, was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on a charge of felony retail theft. He was released on bond.
- David Rivera, 33, of La Grange Park, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on charges of possession of a controlled substance, burglary and retail theft. Police said he possessed heroin. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Two men concealed cologne and cosmetics about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The first suspect was described as white with scruffy facial hair and wearing a flat-brimmed hat with a green clover leaf on it, a blue short-sleeved button-down shirt and a gold bracelet. The second one was described as white with a gray beard and wearing a gray flat cap hat, a black sweater and black pants.
Theft of services
- A person received a full set of acrylic nails and left without paying for the service about 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cyndi Nails, 563 N. York St. An investigation is pending.

- A driver for Super Ego Logistics, 155 W. Industrial Drive, told police that someone stole his belongings from his unlocked semi-truck between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Monday. An investigation is pending.
Abandoned car
- A black Mini Cooper was found abandoned about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Avenue and Interstate 290. Attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful. The car was towed away because it was abandoned and on a busy thoroughfare.
Attempted bicycle theft
- A woman was seen trying to steal a bicycle about 10 p.m. Tuesday at 7-Eleven, 525 S. Spring Road. When the owner confronted the woman, she got into a car and sped away. An investigation is pending.
Solicitors without permits
- Door-to-door solicitors were found to be without permits about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East First Street. They were told to get permits at City Hall.
Warrants
- Samuel Cortes, 27, of Melrose Park, was arrested about 2 p.m. Monday at Lake Street and Emroy Avenue on a DuPage County warrant. He was cited on a charge of speeding. He was released on bond.
- Timothy Lamon Davis, 38, of Chicago, was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday at York Street and Industrial Drive on a DuPage County warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
