Elmhurst D-205 Leader Doubts Sports Will Happen
Superintendent says high school association doesn't know what it's going to do.
ELMHURST, IL — Dave Moyer, superintendent of Elmhurst School District 205, said this week it was unlikely that fall sports would happen this year, given the status of the pandemic in Illinois. But he said the Illinois High School Association has yet to give a specific plan on how it would proceed with sports and activities. "Quite frankly, they don't know what they're going to do," he said.
On Tuesday, Moyer told the school board that the association has moved into Phase 4 of its plan, which allows workouts to be more sports-specific and increases group sizes from 10 to 50. "But there's still no contact," he said.
Some sports and activities have more health concerns at play than others, Moyer said. He said the likelihood of reaching Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Phase 5 in time and the current state of the pandemic make most sports and activities unlikely in the fall.
