Elmhurst D-205 Sees Drop In Virus Cases

A handful of close contacts took place in two local schools, district says.

ELMHURST, IL — As of Friday, Elmhurst School District 205 reported that 207 students and 36 employees were confirmed as having the coronavirus, according to the district's website.

Those numbers were down from a week before, when 232 students and 58 employees had the coronavirus. The number of students with the coronavirus make up about 2.4 percent of the student body.

The previous week, the biggest coronavirus hotspot was Edison Elementary School, where 26 students had tested positive. The number has dropped to 14.

According to the latest numbers, 81 students district-wide were quarantined as the result of close contacts with those with the coronavirus outside school. That is down from 124 the previous week.

As of Friday, six students were reported quarantined as the result of close contacts at school. They were at York High School and the Transition Center.
