Elmhurst D-205 Virus Cases Still Falling
Cases dropped by half at York High School. One school, however, saw a sizable increase.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst School District 205 continues to see drops in coronavirus cases.
As of Friday, 99 students had the coronavirus, amounting to 1.2 percent of the student body, according to the district's latest report. That's down from 119 cases a week earlier. Two weeks ago, the district reported 207 cases.
Among employees, the district reported 11 cases, down from 14 a week before. Two weeks ago, 36 employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

At York High School, cases plunged by more than half in the last week, to 16, from 37. Sandburg Middle School recorded five cases as of Friday, down from 14 a week before.
Madison Early Childhood Center saw the biggest increase among schools, to 13 cases, from two a week earlier.

According to the latest numbers, 25 students district-wide were quarantined as the result of close contacts with those with the coronavirus outside school. That's down from 37 the previous week.
As of Friday, two students were reported quarantined as the result of close contacts in the district's schools. One was at Jackson Elementary, the other at Madison Early Childhood Center.
According to District 205, 56 percent of students district-wide are vaccinated.
