Elmhurst D205 Attendance Rate Continues To Drop

ELMHURST, IL – Like the state as a whole, attendance in Elmhurst School District 205 has dropped since the pandemic, according to state data released this week.

Last school year, District 205's average daily attendance was 93 percent, compared with 91 percent statewide. The local rate is down from 94 percent the previous year. The district's six-year high was 97 percent in 2021. It was at 96 percent in 2019 and 2020.

High school figures tend to be lower than for districts as a whole. Last school year, the average daily attendance at York High was 89 percent, down from 91 percent the previous year. Attendance ranged between 94 percent and 96 percent in the previous four years.

At a recent school board meeting, members acknowledged dropping attendance was an issue in the district.
