Elmhurst D205 Beefs Up Administration
The increase in administrators means a more than $300,000 increase in spending.
ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 is planning to increase the size of its administration.
According to a budget proposal, the number of school administrators this budget year is set at 28, up from 25 the previous year.
The district is adding three assistant principals. A district memo said they would improve student outcomes, promote instructional leadership and deepen staff development.

The three positions are expected to cost more than $300,000, which represents a 10 percent increase in the budget for school administrators.
This budget year, the district also plans to employ 10 cabinet administrators, who work at the central office. That is the same number as the last few years.

The budget for cabinet administrators is set to rise by about $50,000, a 3.5 percent increase.
Overall, the district is planning to hire 1,189 employees this year, up by 15 from the previous year.
The total payroll is set to jump to $90.2 million, up from the prior year's $86.5 million, a 4.3 percent hike. Payroll has increased by 12 percent since the 2020-21 school year.
Employee salaries and benefits make up a big majority of the budget.
