Elmhurst D205 Eyes Church Property
The church closed its doors earlier this summer. It is within the district's boundaries.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 is looking at the old St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church building in Bensenville.
The reason is unclear.
On Wednesday, the school board's finance committee plans to discuss the property at 145 E. Grand Ave. The district includes the part of Bensenville where the church is.

In a statement to Patch, district spokeswoman Tonya Daniels said that as a public entity, the district always aims to be forward-thinking and fiscally responsible.

"We were made aware of this property that might be appropriate to consider for future use," Daniels said.
The church is a few blocks north of Conrad Fischer Elementary School in Elmhurst. At 545 students, Fischer has the highest enrollment of the district's eight elementary schools.
Officials have spoken before about the demands on the school's space, noting the district-wide dual-language program is housed there.
Six classrooms were added to the school in recent times.
