Elmhurst D205 Reduces Tax Hike A Bit
The owner of a $500,000 is now expected to see a $242 increase in property taxes this year.
ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 is still increasing this year's property tax levy.
But the school board decided Tuesday to reduce that hike by 14 percent.
In December, the board approved a tax hike that amounted to $281 for the owner of a $500,000 house.

That was scaled back a bit at Tuesday's board meeting. For the $500,000 house, the tax increase is now set at $242, down by $39, according to the district.
Under state law, the district had through this month to reduce the tax levy increase, which is part of a process known as "abatement."

The vote for the reduction this week was unanimous.
