Elmhurst Downtown Drinkers Spark Liquor Inquiry: Cops
An Elmhurst man is among the local police department's latest DUI arrests.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police responded to a number of people drinking downtown in violation of local liquor laws and arrested six people on DUI charges. Here is information from the reports:
Liquor law violations
- A number of people were seen consuming alcohol about 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of South York Street in violation of Elmhurst's liquor laws. The incident was referred to the city's liquor commission, an indication that a liquor license holder may be involved. Patch plans to file a public records request in the matter.

- A 20-year-old man who lives in the 200 block of West Claremont Street in Elmhurst was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at Park and Poplar on charges of DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor and attempting to possess a fraudulent driver's license. He was released.
- A 39-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of East Butterfield Road on a charge of DUI. He was released.
- A 34-year-old Forest Park woman was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Addison and North avenues on charges of DUI, carrying a concealed gun while under the influence and unlawful use of a phone while driving. She was released.
- A 35-year-old Bellwood man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at York Street and Columbia Avenue on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car, transportation of open alcohol by a driver, speeding, improper lane usage and failure to signal. He was released.
- A 19-year-old Carol Stream man was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday at Brush Hill Road and Salt Creek on charges of DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor, driving an uninsured car, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
- A 38-year-old Country Club Hills woman was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Lake Street on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and improper lane usage. She was released.
- A 23-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Friday at York and Lake streets on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and loud excessive noise caused by a muffler. He was released.
