Elmhurst DUI Suspect Drives Into Yard, Speeds Away, Then Caught: Cops

In another case, a drunk driver was found on the ground in downtown, admitting to disabling his car, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst police arrested a half dozen people on DUI charges in the last few days, all of whom were taken to the police station and then released. Here is information from the cases:

  • A 39-year-old Woodridge man was arrested shortly before midnight Friday in the 500 block of West Babcock Avenue on charges of DUI, reckless driving, speeding, failing to wear a seatbelt and driving an uninsured car. Police said the man drove through a yard and was told to stop, but he sped away, police said. He was later found.
  • A 27-year-old Lake in the Hills man was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of North York Street on charges of DUI and driving an uninsured car. Police said the man was found lying on the sidewalk in front of a business. He admitted to hitting a curb and disabling his car, which was parked nearby, police said.
  • A 21-year-old woman who lives in the 400 block of West Avery Avenue was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of West Butterfield Road on charges of DUI, obstructing identification, driving with a suspended license, improper lighting, improper lane usage, driving with expired plates, and driving with one headlight.
  • A 46-year-old Plainfield man was arrested about 2 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Boyd Avenue on charges of DUI and transportation of open alcohol.
  • A 20-year-old Addison man was arrested about 9 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Road and Fair Avenue on charges of DUI, no valid driver's license and possession of open alcohol.
  • A 35-year-old Franklin Park man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Grand and Oaklawn avenues on charges of DUI, improper lighting, improper lane usage and possession of open alcohol.
