ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst elementary school principal is set to leave in June, according to the school district's latest personnel report.
Sheleen DeLockery, Emerson Elementary's principal, started at the school in July 2019. Before that, she was a curriculum coordinator at Des Plaines School District 62.
It is unclear why DeLockery is departing. This is hiring season for school administrators.

In November 2021, Emerson was the site of an anti-face mask protest involving nearly 100 people. Residents said they were lending support to a student who decided against wearing a mask at the school.
At the time, a Patch reporter tried to interview DeLockery, who was standing outside. But a top school district official warned the reporter against approaching. DeLockery watched on silently.
In July 2020, DeLockery tweeted during tensions over whether the new school year would involve remote learning as the pandemic continued.
"(W)e will not make everyone happy, but we will continue to remember that our children and everyone’s health is at the forefront of our planning," she said.
