Elmhurst Farmers Market Offers Variety Of Vendors

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst Farmers Market will join communities nationwide on Wednesday to celebrate National Farmers Market Week, a yearly observance recognizing farmers, food producers, small businesses, volunteers and shoppers who support local food systems.

The market, held in Elmhurst every Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June through October, is inviting longtime customers and first-time visitors to take part.

Organizers encourage visitors to come early for the widest selection of seasonal produce and baked goods, ask vendors about their farms and products, and stay for breakfast, lunch, live music or other market events.

According to a news release, National Farmers Market Week is also meant to highlight the role markets play in connecting shoppers directly with the people who grow and make their food. The market cited an American Farm Bureau study that found 72% of consumers know “nothing” or “very little” about farming and agricultural production.

“Elmhurst Farmers Market has become one of the community's signature weekly experiences. It draws visitors from across the western suburbs while giving residents and visitors another reason to spend the morning exploring Elmhurst and enjoying an atmosphere that reflects the welcoming character of Elmhurst,” says Michael Queroz, Communications Manager for City of Elmhurst.

Market organizers describe Elmhurst Farmers Market as a traditional farmers market where vendors must sell products they produce. According to the market, there is no resale, no flea market goods and no home improvement businesses or MLMs. Vendors are responsible for growing, baking, transporting, displaying and selling their own products.

Current vendors come from the Chicagoland suburbs, northern Illinois, southwest Michigan and Wisconsin, according to the market. The market said vendors travel between 10 and 120 miles to Elmhurst.

“One of the things that makes selling at a farmers’ market so rewarding is the relationships we have formed with all our customers as they are like friends and family—many of whom we know by name,” says Karen Froehlich, Froehlich’s Finest Fruits & Vegetables in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

For more than 25 years, Elmhurst Farmers Market has connected shoppers with regional farmers, growers, bakers, food producers and independent food businesses, according to the market. It said the market now has more than 40 vendors and welcomed more than 30,000 shopper visits during the 2025 season. More than 2,500 people attended the opening market of the 2026 season, according to the market.

"One of my favorite things about volunteering is watching the market come to life each Wednesday. It's where the community connects to enjoy breakfast or lunch, listen to live music, and spend time outdoors together. I see families with young children, Elmhurst Hospital employees on their lunch break, friends meeting for coffee and Mahjong, residents from nearby senior homes, and adults participating in local day programs visiting the market. And every week, I meet someone new,” says Tracy Williams, a volunteer at Elmhurst Farmers Market.
