Elmhurst Fire Department Holds Open House
Residents can come check out the open house, which has a theme of "Every Second Counts — Plan 2 Ways Out," from 12 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 15.

ELMHURST, IL — The Elmhurst Fire Department will hold an open house in celebration of National Fire Prevention Week. Residents can come check out the open house, which has a theme of "Every Second Counts — Plan 2 Ways Out," from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 at Station #2, 601 S. York Road. According to the department, guests can learn more about fire prevention and safety techniques through demonstrations and activities.
Activities include: blood pressure screenings, station tours, K9 comfort dogs, face painting, a prescription drug drop-off box, fire safety trailer, Nicor safety booth and a firefighter's pole. There will be a bouncy house from 1 to 3 p.m., high angle rope rescue at 12:30 p.m., firefighter fashion show at 1:30 p.m., simulated EMS response at 2:30 p.m., and AirMed1 Helicopter at 3 p.m.
