Elmhurst Gas Station Fight Results In Arrest: Police
Woman wields crowbar as she pushes someone down, police say.
ELMHURST — A crowbar-wielding Chicago woman was charged with assault and battery after a fight this week at an Elmhurst gas station, police said. About 11 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of a group of people at Thornton's, 476 N. York St., screaming at each other.
Essence L. Wallace, 21, had a crowbar and ran toward someone else, pushing her to the ground, according to a police report. Police took Wallace into custody and released her on bond.
Nearly two hours later, officers were watching several people in the Thornton's parking lot who were yelling and swearing. The suspects then attempted to get into an unattended car, the report said. They were Frank R. Alagna, 33, of Oakwood Hills, and Melissa Alagna, 24, of Elgin, who were charged with attempted burglary of a motor vehicle, police said. They were released on bond.

- The resource officer at York High School heard loud coughing and voices coming from the boys restroom about 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17. Upon entering, the officer smelled marijuana. A student gave up two vape devices and three vape cartridges. One of the vape devices tested positive for marijuana. The student was cited for marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. The student's parents were informed.
- A victim told police that a suspect threw a rock off of a bridge about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Palmer and First, striking her car and damaging the roof. The suspect gave officers a false identity, then eventually gave his correct name. He admitted to throwing the rock. He was taken to the police station and released to his parent. Charges are pending.
- A victim reports he and another person were in an argument shortly before 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at a Christmas office party in the 800 block of Larch Avenue. During the argument, the other person grabbed the victim by the collar. An officer did not see any marks or injuries on the victim. No arrests were made.
- Kylee Russell, 32, of Lombard, was arrested about 5 a.m. Dec. 16 at Roosevelt and York on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failing to give aid and improper lane usage. She was released on bond.
- Kenneth J. Cadwallader, 50, of Plainfield, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 16 in the 100 block of North Michigan on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident with an unattended vehicle. He was released on bond.
- Shaikeyla L. Brock, 26, of Bellwood, was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 200 block of Butterfield on a DuPage County warrant for failure to appear in court and on charges of driving with a suspended license and marijuana possession. She was released on bond. An officer approached Brock because her car was broken down.
- John F. Kerrigan, 54, of Elmhurst, was arrested shortly before 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 500 block of South Fairview on two counts of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Kerrigan had a verbal argument with the victim and then her and pushed her to the floor.
- Roberto Tinoco, 33, of Chicago, was arrested at 2 a.m. Dec. 17 in the 100 block of North Avenue on charges of DUI, no insurance and speeding. He was released on bond. Tinoco was stopped for speeding.
- Someone broke into a unlocked car from Dec. 11 to Dec. 12 in the 200 block of East Grantley Avenue and stole a black computer bag containing an iPad and Apple laptop computer.
- Mauricio Oviedo, 21, of Elmwood Park, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Grand and Lake on charges of no valid driver's license, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on bond.
- Alexandria Wallenda, 19, of Lombard, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Grand and Lake on a charge of marijuana possession. She was released on bond.
Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
