Elmhurst Home Invader Interrupted, Took Only Cigarettes

A woman was watching television June 3 in the basement of her home in the 300 block of North Addison when she heard footsteps upstairs.

When she went to see who was in the house, she confronted an unshaven white man between 25 and 30 years old with dark, shaggy, medium-length hair, according to Elmhurst police.

He was wearing a light blue jean shirt with wooden buttons, blue jeans and black shoes. The woman described him as “dirty,” police reported.

The man ran away through the back door and through the yard. He had taken a pack of cigarettes.
