Elmhurst Jewel Employee Punched: Police
A worker was struck after he confronted a customer, police said.
ELMHURST, IL — An employee at Jewel was punched Saturday after he confronted a man who was concealing five bottles of vodka in a backpack, according to an Elmhurst police report. The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. at the Jewel at 944 S. York St.
The suspect left the store without paying for the merchandise, police said. A witness then saw the man bicycling east on Butterfield Road.
The suspect was described as black, 25 to 35 years old, 180 to 200 pounds, of average build, with a beard and wearing a white helmet, safety vest and a backpack.

The employee suffered a deep cut above his eye, police said.
