Elmhurst Man Accused In Disturbance: Police
In another case, a man was seen on video trying to break into a business, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, attempted burglary, disorderly conduct, car theft, trespassing, drugs and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic battery
- A 36-year-old man who lives in the 800 block of South Poplar Avenue in Elmhurst was arrested about 1 a.m. Thursday at his house on charges of domestic battery (two counts), DUI and transportation of open alcohol by a driver. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- A man was seen on surveillance footage trying to use a brick and rebar to enter Shell gas station, 301 W. Butterfield Road. The man was unsuccessful. The incident occurred about 3 a.m. Thursday. The suspect was described as white, carrying a black and gray duffel bag, and wearing a black baseball hat, a brown zip-up hoodie with a white hood, a black and white striped shirt, gray shorts and black and white shoes.
Disorderly conduct
- A 38-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Friday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., on a disorderly conduct charge. Police said the man harassed customers and employees and asked them for money. He was released.
Domestic disturbance

- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 8:30 p.m. Friday at Elm Creek Apartments on Elm Creek Drive. A woman said she and a man were arguing over finances. They agreed to separate for the night.
Car theft
- A man parked his car about 11 a.m. Thursday at Shell gas station, 654 W. North Ave., because of mechanical issues. Overnight, someone stole the unlocked car, but police in suburban Summit found it abandoned. An investigation is pending.
Trespassing
- A 23-year-old Lombard man was arrested about 1 a.m. Friday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., on a trespassing charge. The man was recently given a no-trespass notice at the university and was seen on surveillance footage violating the notice. He refused to answer officers' questions. He was released.
Drugs
- A 26-year-old Bloomingdale woman was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Thursday near Shoe Carnival, 195 S. Route 83, on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was also wanted on a DuPage County warrant. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A 20-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Elm Creek Apartments on Elm Creek Drive on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also wanted on a McLean County warrant. Police said they found him slumped behind the wheel. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
DUI
- A 71-year-old man who lives in the 500 block of South Cedar in Elmhurst was arrested about 10 a.m. Friday at York and Second streets on charges of DUI and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. He was released.
- A 39-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 3 a.m. Friday at Route 83 and Lake Street on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. She was released.
- A 47-year-old Addison woman was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Friday at York and Lake streets on charges of DUI (drugs), unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, failure to signal when required and an improper turn at an intersection. She was released.
- A 32-year-old Villa Park woman was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday at Lake and Walnut streets on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended registration, unlawful use of marijuana by a driver and illegal parking where prohibited. Police said they found the woman unconscious behind the wheel. She was released.
- A 37-year-old Joliet man was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday at Larch and North avenues on charges of DUI, disobeying a traffic control device, improper lane usage (four counts), failure to signal when required and driving an uninsured car. He was released.
- A 43-year-old DeKalb man was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at Michigan Street and North Avenue on charges of DUI, marijuana possession, improper lighting, driving an uninsured car and possession of open alcohol. He was released.
Trespassing notice
- A man was given a no-trespass notice shortly after midnight Thursday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. He was asking for money after not paying for his food.
Harassment
- A resident in the 100 block of South Chandler Avenue told police Thursday that he received numerous harassing emails, texts and voicemails from a suspect. An officer called the suspect, who denied contacting the resident. An investigation is pending.
Small fire
- Elmhurst firefighters put out a small fire on a garage post about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of South Mitchell Avenue.
