Elmhurst Man Installs Tracker On Woman's Car: Cops

The man admitted to the violation and was arrested on two charges, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a man tracking a woman, a sleeping trespassing suspect, an impersonator, theft, a returning former employee and an unconscious man. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Tracking woman

  • A 54-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 200 block of Montrose Avenue was arrested Monday on charges of disorderly conduct and unlawfully using an electronic tracking device. Police said a woman was alerted to a GPS tracker following her throughout the day. An officer discovered a tracker in her car's wheel well. Police said they found the 54-year-old man, who admitted to installing the tracker. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Sleeping trespassing suspect

  • A 28-year-old man, with no residency information given, was arrested about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of criminal trespassing in a building. Police said the incident occurred at Delta Sonic Car Wash, 600 W. North Ave. Police said the man was sleeping in the restroom overnight. He was released.

Impersonater

  • Someone impersonated a car's owner to have the vehicle towed away about 1 p.m. Wednesday from BMW of Elmhurst, 500 W. Lake St.

  • A 49-year-old woman from Peru, Illinois, was arrested about 2 p.m. Tuesday at Interstate 290 and St. Charles Road on charges of fleeing to elude an officer, driving with a suspended license, driving a car while using an electronic device, and improper lane usage. Police said she was wanted on two arrest warrants. She was released.

Cash theft

  • Someone stole cash from a wallet last Friday or Saturday at The Grove of Elmhurst nursing home, 127 W. Diversey Ave.

Ex-worker returns

  • A former employee tried to enter Through the Woods Therapy and Wellness, 340 W. Butterfield Road, about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. She had been told not to return.

Unconscious

  • A man was reported unconscious about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Villa Avenue. He had struck his head. He refused medical treatment.

Fall

  • A person fell about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of South Prospect Avenue. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
