They feared for Fernandez's safety as well as their own, so they called the police, according to the report. They said Fernandez did not hurt them and there was no history of domestic battery at their home.
The officers had Fernandez sit on the outside stairs. While there, Fernandez kicked one of the officers in the groin, police said. He was then arrested.
Fernandez tried to prevent officers from walking him to a squad car by stiffening his body and not allowing movement of his limbs, police said. He also screamed at the officers, occasionally slurring his words, police said.
When he was seated in a squad car, he kicked another officer, which was captured on a camera, the report said.
Because of his intoxication, he was unable to answer medics' basic questions, police said. He was taken to the hospital. His next stop was the DuPage County Jail.
