Elmhurst Man's Body Found In Park Lagoon: County

Medical examiner identified the man. He had been reported missing by a relative, report says.

ELMHURST, IL — The body of the man found in the lagoon at Elmhurst's Eldridge Park on Tuesday has been identified.

He was John Ruane, 78, of Elmhurst, according to the DuPage County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Arlington Heights-based Daily Herald reported Thursday that Ruane had been staying with a relative in Arlington Heights. The relative reported Ruane missing Tuesday morning, the newspaper said.

Citing police, the Daily Herald said Ruane used a cane and had gone missing once in December, the Daily Herald said.

Elmhurst police have not returned messages for comment.

Ruane's body was found at 9 a.m. in the lagoon, police said. The park is at 363 Commonwealth Lane.
