Elmhurst Medical Office Building Planned
The three-story structure would be on the south side, next to a residential neighborhood.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst Hospital plans a three-story medical office building on South York Street, between the hospital and Ebel's Ace Hardware.
On Monday, the hospital is set to present the concept to a City Council committee. It has yet to go before the city's Plan Commission. After the commission makes a recommendation, the full council decides.
The 65,000-square-foot building at 1100 S. York St. would be on a nearly 5-acre vacant site, according to the hospital's documents.

The healthcare use is consistent with the city's zoning code and more compatible than other allowable uses, including retail, restaurants, brewpubs and supermarkets, the hospital said.
The building would involve no overnight stays or 24-hour operations, according to the documents.

The vacant land is next to Kendall Avenue, a residential neighborhood. The hospital proposes features that would lessen the impact on the neighborhood, including an 8-foot-high fence and landscaping along Kendall and no access from the parking lot to Kendall.
The council's Development, Planning and Zoning Committee meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 209 N. York St.
