Elmhurst Named Among Top 100 Safest Cities in U.S.

Elmhurst is safer than 66 percent of cities in the U.S., according to a recent ranking.

Elmhurst has been named the 92nd safest city in the United States, according to a recent study by Neighborhood Scout.

The cities were ranked by overall crime rate, which includes both violent and property crimes, with population factored in.

Types of crimes considered in the study include burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, homicide, forcible rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Crime data analyzed by Neighborhood Scout shows Elmhurst is safer than 66 percent of cities in the U.S., with 12.49 annual crimes per 1,000 residents.

This ranking also makes Elmhurst the 18th safest city in Illinois. Lake in the Hills was listed as the safest city in the state and the second safest in the nation.
