This Elmhurst Organization Mandates Vaccine Cards
The entity says some are harassing it because of the policy, police said.
ELMHURST, IL — YMCA of Greater Chicago, which includes the Elmhurst branch, on Tuesday started requiring those 5 and older to present coronavirus vaccination cards upon entering facilities. The local branch is already receiving blowback, police said.
According to a police report, employees said they were harassed over the new policy Wednesday afternoon. The report did not describe the nature of the harassment.
In Chicago and Cook County, vaccine mandates are common, but they are rare in suburbs such as Elmhurst. Such requirements often spark bitter debates.

Patch left a message for comment with the local branch's executive director, Derek Schlager.
According to its website, the YMCA announced the vaccination policy in December.
