Elmhurst Police Department Awarded Grants for Ceremonial Rifle, Bicycle Accessories

The Elmhurst Police Department has been awarded grants for a ceremonial rifle for the department’s Honor Guard and for accessories for police patrol bicycles.

The grants came from personal donations made by members of The Elmhurst Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, according to a City of Elmhurst news release.

Officer John Ryan accepted the ceremonial rifle grant, and the bike accessories grant was proposed by Sergeant Steve Wright.

The Elmhurst Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association is a group of 90 people who have graduated from the Citizen’s Police Academy. The association helps the Elmhurst Police Department at functions and its members have awarded various grants since 2000, according to the news release.

“We are fortunate to have such a large and active alumni group,” said Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth in the news release. “Their contributions to the police department and our community are significant and appreciated.”
