Elmhurst Resident Stuck In Home Freed By Authorities
In another case, a person is accused of throwing branches at someone else in a local neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a person stuck inside a home, a possible battle over branches, a violation of a protection order, a suspicious email, a domestic disturbance, an egging and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Stuck inside
- An officer helped the fire department gain entry about 8:30 p.m. Friday into a home in the 100 block of West Adelaide Street to rescue a resident stuck inside because of a malfunctioning deadbolt.

- A man said he was trimming trees about 11:30 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of South Cambridge Avenue when a suspect drove past the orange traffic cones and threw branches onto the street, with one of them hitting the man. The suspect denied trying to hit the man with branches. The victim decided against signing a complaint.
Violating an order of protection
- A 41-year-old St. Charles man was arrested about 6 a.m. Sunday on a charge of violating a protection order. Police said a woman in the 900 block of South Euclid Avenue had an order of protection against the man, but she still received numerous calls and texts from him. The man was found in Batavia. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- A resident told police that several people were trying to gain access to a car about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Thomas Street. Officers couldn't find the people. The car showed no signs of damage, and nothing was reported missing by the victim.
Suspicious email
- A resident in the 200 block of East Cayuga Avenue told police Thursday that a person sent a suspicious email. Upon investigation, it was determined that the email was intended for a friend.
Domestic disturbance
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 10 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of South Spring Road. The victim left the home and refused any further police help. The suspect said the dispute was only verbal. No arrests were made because of conflicting stories and no visible signs of injury.
Egging
- Someone egged a house between Jan. 25 and Jan. 30 in the 200 block of South Chandler Avenue. An investigation is pending.
Battery
- A woman told police that a man struck her during an argument about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Extended Stay America hotel, 550 W. Grand Ave. The man denied hitting the woman, saying she struck him with a debit card. They agreed to go their separate ways.
Slipped
- A person slipped on the ice about 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Armitage Avenue and Adele Street. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
DUI
- A 26-year-old Hoffman Estates man was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Thursday at Villa Avenue and Rose Street on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured car, possession of open alcohol by a driver, improper lane usage and damage to city property. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 35-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 600 block of South Berkley Avenue was arrested about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue on charges of DUI and improper backing. She was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 52-year-old Melrose Park man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Industrial and Grand avenues on charges of DUI, failure to signal and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and then released.
