ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst is seeking the public's feedback on its downtown plan.

In December, the city contracted with Houseal Lavigne Associates to update the 2016 plan.

The new plan will guide downtown policy decisions and help achieve the goal of making the city's core a destination for residents and visitors, according to a city news release.

The city also wants downtown to have high appearance standards and be known for business retention and recruitment.

The plan will address land use and development, redevelopment opportunities, transportation, parking, pedestrian mobility and streetscape, among other things, the release said.

The city plans two "listening sessions" Feb. 13 at City Hall. One is from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the other from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The first session is geared toward Elmhurst's corporate citizens, property and business owners, and developers.

The second one will allow residents and stakeholders to provide feedback, the city said.
