Elmhurst Sees Another Low In Virus Cases: County
The number of local coronavirus deaths remains the same.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst again saw the lowest number of new coronavirus cases in a week since late July, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city had seen 5,128 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 30 from a week before. The week before last, Elmhurst experienced an increase of 32 new cases.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 70. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.4 percent.

As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 110 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 94 in Darien, 102 in La Grange Park, 107 in Hinsdale and DuPage County, 115 in Clarendon Hills, 116 in Western Springs, 117 in suburban Cook County, 119 in Burr Ridge and 136 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,680,908, a 0.9 percent increase from the previous week, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 25,407.
Nationally, 45.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, a 1.1 percent increase from the previous week, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 733,834 people have died from the virus in the United States.
