Elmhurst Sees Drop In New Virus Cases: County
The number of coronavirus deaths in Elmhurst has remained the same for months.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst experienced a decrease in coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city had seen 4,656 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 69 from a week before. The week before last, Elmhurst experienced an increase of 85 new cases. The numbers remain high compared to most of the summer.
As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 68, as it has been for months. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.5 percent.

As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 99.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 85 in Darien, 92.4 in La Grange Park, 96.1 in DuPage County, 97.3 in Hinsdale, 104.8 in Western Springs, 106.4 in Clarendon Hills, 107.5 in suburban Cook County, 110.3 in Burr Ridge and 135.3 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,482,369, up 1.7 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,717.
Nationally, 37.6 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 3.2 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 625,375 people have died from the virus in the United States.
