Elmhurst Sees Drop In Virus Rate: County
No new coronavirus deaths are reported in the city in the last week.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst experienced a drop in its rate of increase in coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city saw 54 new cases in the last week, or a 1.4 percent hike. The increase was 2.4 percent the week before. The case total since the pandemic's beginning is 3,919.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 61. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.6 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 1.4 percent was higher than DuPage County's hike of 1.1 percent in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.2 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 83.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 71.8 in Darien, 74.4 in La Grange Park, 78.2 in Western Springs, 81.3 in DuPage County, 81.9 in Hinsdale, 88.9 in Clarendon Hills, 90 in suburban Cook County, 94.6 in Burr Ridge and 102.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,232,900, up 1 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,203 state residents.
Nationally, 29.9 million people have caught the virus, up 1.2 percent from the week before. A total of 543,975 people have died from the virus in the United States.
