Elmhurst Sees Drop In Virus Rate: County
The city experiences two more coronavirus deaths in the last week.
ELMHURST, IL — With 73 new cases in the last week, Elmhurst experienced a drop in its coronavirus rate, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city had 4,174 cases, a 1.8 percent increase from the week before. The previous week, it was 2.5 percent.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst increased by two in the last week, to 65. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.6 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 1.8 percent was higher than DuPage County's hike of 1.6 percent in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.3 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 89.3 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 76.3 in Darien, 79.2 in La Grange Park, 86.1 in DuPage County, 86.6 in Western Springs and Hinsdale, 94.6 in Clarendon Hills, 94.8 in suburban Cook County, 99.6 in Burr Ridge and 109.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,299,575, up 1.6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,653 state residents.
Nationally, 31.4 million people have caught the virus, up 1.6 percent from the week before. A total of 563,216 people have died from the virus in the United States.
