Elmhurst Still Sees Most Virus Cases Since January: County
No new coronavirus deaths are reported in Elmhurst.
ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst is still seeing the most coronavirus cases since January, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city had seen 10,295 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 201 from a week before. That's higher than the previous week's 179. The city hit a weekly record of 599 in January.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 96. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1 percent.

The figure compares to 193 in Darien, 203 in Hinsdale, 213 in DuPage County, 220 in Elmhurst and suburban Cook County, 232 in La Grange Park, 233 in Western Springs, 234 in Clarendon Hills, and 239 in La Grange.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 3,209,341, a hike of 1.3 percent, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 33,705.
Nationally, 82.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, an increase of 0.8 percent in the last week, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 997,003 people have died from the virus in the United States.
