Elmhurst Store Clerk Sells Liquor To Minor: Cops

In another case, an unconscious person at a restaurant had stolen alcohol, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a clerk selling liquor to a minor, an unconscious person, burglary, retail theft, a gun charge, sleeping in the wrong place and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Selling liquor to a minor

  • A 54-year-old Chicago man was cited about 8:30 p.m. Friday on a charge of selling liquor to a minor at Doti's Liquors, 104 E. Fullerton Ave. Police said an officer saw minors leaving the store with liquor. The man was released.

Unconscious person

  • Police were called about an unconscious person around 10 p.m. Saturday at McDonald's, 190 E. Butterfield Road. The person, who was found to have stolen alcohol, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and given a no-trespass notice. A retail theft investigation is pending.

Incoherent person

  • Police and medics were called shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of East Butterfield Road about an incoherent person on the ground. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Burglary, retail theft

  • Nora P. Vasquez Bermejo, 38, of Melrose Park, and Eluvia Gomez Lopez, 48, of Addison, were arrested about 4 p.m. Sunday on charges of burglary, retail theft and possession of methamphetamine. Police said the incident occurred at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The women were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Warrant

  • A 30-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 300 block of East Sherman Avenue was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Thursday at his house on a warrant charging failure to appear in court. He was released.

Gun offense

  • A 39-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Thursday at York and Lake streets on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, improper windshield condition and improper window tint. Police said he had a loaded gun. He was released.

Retail theft

  • A suspect was seen on video stealing merchandise at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. It occurred last Monday and was reported Saturday. The store did not want to press charges. A no-trespass notice was given to the person.
  • A 25-year-old man, with no hometown given, was arrested about 11 a.m. Thursday on charges of retail theft (two counts), possession of stolen property and criminal trespass to a building. Police said the man stole liquor at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The man was released.
  • A 53-year-old Cicero man was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Friday on two counts of retail theft. Police said the incident occurred at Jewel, 944 S. York St. He was released.

Sleeping

  • A 41-year-old man who lives at Clarion Inn in Elmhurst was found sleeping shortly before midnight Thursday at the Addison Avenue parking deck, 145 N. Addison Ave. He was cited on a charge of violating the city's loitering ordinance. The man was found to have a DuPage County warrant charging failure to appear in court. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A 59-year-old Villa Park man was cited about 6:30 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging failure to appear in court. Police found the man sleeping in the vestibule at Chase Bank, 534 W. St. Charles Road.

Left without paying

  • A person left without paying for his cab about 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. Officers contacted the man, who agreed to pay his fare.

Refused to leave

  • A group of people refused to leave Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive, about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. They were given no-trespass notices.

DUI

  • A 21-year-old Naperville man was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday at Route 83 and Second Street on charges of DUI and driving with expired plates. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 32-year-old Schererville, Indiana, man was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Butterfield Road on charges of DUI and possession of a concealed gun while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 35-year-old Chicago man was arrested shortly after midnight Thursday at York and Lake streets on charges of DUI, carrying a concealed gun under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 36-year-old Lafayette, Indiana, woman was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday at Grand and Old Grand avenues on charges of DUI, obstructing identification, improper lane usage and driving with one headlight. She was taken to the police station and then released.
