Elmhurst Swim Team Hosts Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser

The Swamp Things will attempt to swim 200 lengths each to earn pledges and donations for the Elmhurst Swim Team’s first annual Swim-A-Thon.

The Swim-A-Thon will take place Dec. 22 beginning at 6:30 a.m. at the York Aquatic Center, according to the Elmhurst Swim Team. It is a USA Swimming approved fundraising event. Swimmers will have two hours, from 7 to 9 a.m., to swim a maximum of 200 lengths.

Most of the money raised, 95 percent, will stay local within the club, and 5 percent goes to the USA Swimming Foundation, according to the Elmhurst Swim Team.

Swimmers have forms for collecting donations on the spot and pledges after the event. Online donations are also accepted.

“As a non-profit organization, the monthly dues that we charge our families are only part of the money required to cover all of the operational costs our team sees each year,” the Swim-A-Thon donation page states. “This family friendly event, along with our athletes fundraising participation, helps raise money from friends and family that is critical to financially helping out our team.”
