Elmhurst United Churches of Christ and First United Methodist Church Team Up for Vacation Bible School
Elementary students will learn about Caring for God's Creation. Junior high Service Squad members go on daily mini-mission trips.
Bethel UCC, First Congregational UCC, First United Methodist Church, and St. Peter's UCC invite all children, from those entering 1st grade to students entering 8th grade, to be part of its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) again this year. Caring for God’s Creation, the program for this summer, will help kids learn about our world and its needs and how to serve and care for it.
Those entering grades 6-8 are invited to be members of the Middle School Service Squad, which will undertake service missions daily.
The fun for elementary students begins Monday, June 6, and ends Wednesday, June 8, from 9:00 until 11:30 each day. Incoming 1st through 5th graders will meet at St. Peter's UCC, 125 W. Church St., Elmhurst. Service Squad members (grades 6-8) will meet two days, June 6 and 7, in the front parking lot at St. Peter's and will start their day an hour earlier, at 8:00 a.m. An open house and ice cream social will be held Wednesday evening, June 8, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Peter's.

If you’re a soon-to-be 6th through 8th grader and are looking for a volunteer experience, you’re invited to be a member of the VBS Middle School Service Squad. Two mini-missions trips will focus on helping those in need in DuPage County and our world. See what a difference you can make in two days! Monday morning, June 6, will take Squad members to Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, where they will package food to be sent to hungry children around the world. Tuesday will be spent traveling to the Northern Illinois Food Bank in St. Charles to package food and supplies for those in need in our area. Participants will return to St. Peter's by noon each day.
Beginning March 21 registration forms and Service Squad permission and release forms can be downloaded from the Bethel UCC web site, www.bethel-ucc.org; click on Vacation Bible School. Fees, which include a t-shirt, are $30 per child for elementary age participants and $20 for Service Squad members. The last day to register is May 15. Checks can be made payable to St. Peter’s UCC. There is no on-site registration. Scholarships are available; check with individual churches. Space is limited so please register early! Adult and high school volunteers are needed to make the week a success. Please contact elementary grades registrar Rev. Amanda McEvilly at 630-530-6000 for information and to volunteer.
