Elmhurst University Student Who Filed False Report Arrested: Cops
The student reported that a man with a gun was on campus, police say.

ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst University student was arrested Monday on a charge of filing a false report late last month, police said Tuesday.
The student is Darnel Baalbaki, 25, of Bellwood, according to a police news release.
About 3:30 p.m. April 28, Elmhurst police responded to a call about a man with a gun on campus. No threat was found, and the lockdown was lifted at 6 p.m., the release said.

The police investigation found that Baalbaki met with a man in a university parking lot earlier that day. Baalbaki later admitted that he acquired methamphetamine without paying an agreed-upon price and then ran away, police said.
During a follow-up interview, Baalbaki acknowledged he called the university's public safety office and made a false report about a man with a gun, the news release said.

Baalbaki was charged with felony disorderly conduct, more specifically filing a false crime report. His bond was set at $25,000.
