Elmhurst University Students Raise Cash For Race

They want to learn about automotive engineering and take part in 24 Hours of Lemons.

ELMHURST, IL – A group of Elmhurst University students is raising money for their passion for automotive engineering.

They plan to take part in the 24 Hours of Lemons race.

This week, student George Pavlenko launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe.

He said the race only allows cars that are valued at no more than $500. But safety equipment is not subject to the budget cap, he said.

Safety gear includes robust roll cages, racing seats, professional-grade seat belts, helmets, and fire extinguishers.

"Our team is dedicated to not only competing but also learning and demonstrating our capabilities in automotive design and safety engineering," Pavlenko said on the GoFundMe page. "Your contribution will directly fund these critical components, ensuring that we can race safely and effectively."

The five students aim to raise $4,000.
