Elmhurst Virus Rate Hikes Leveling Off: County
The number of local coronavirus deaths stays the same over the last week.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst saw the same rate of increase in coronavirus cases last week as it did the week before, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city experienced 41 new cases in the last week, or a 1.1 percent hike.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same over the last week, at 60. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.6 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 1.1 percent was lower than DuPage County's hike of 1.4 percent in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.1 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 79.9 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 69.5 in Darien, 69.8 in La Grange Park, 73.1 in Western Springs, 76.7 in Hinsdale, 78.6 in DuPage County, 83.6 in Clarendon Hills, 87.2 in suburban Cook County, 91.7 in Burr Ridge and 97.6 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,198,335, up 1 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 20,763 state residents.
Nationally, 28.7 million people have caught the virus, up 1.5 percent from the week before. A total of 521,294 people have died from the virus in the United States.

As of Monday, Elmhurst Hospital was caring for seven patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, according to the hospital. That is down by two from the previous week.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 173 people have died from the coronavirus at the facility. The number is the same as a week ago.
Since March, 1,570 patients have been discharged from Elmhurst Hospital following treatment for confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the hospital. Elmhurst Hospital's patient base covers an area far greater than Elmhurst itself.
