Elmhurst Whole Foods Impacted By Data Breach

Payment cards used at the primary store checkout systems were not affected.

ELMHURST, IL —The Whole Foods Market in Elmhurst was recently impacted by a data breach. According to a customer notification sent out, the business received information about unauthorized access of payment card information used at certain venues, like taprooms and full table-service restaurants, that are located within some stores. Payment cards used at the primary store checkout systems were not affected.

The Elmhurst store, located at 215 S. Route 83, had its Cook Shack and Juice Bar impacted by the breach.

"When Whole Foods Market learned of this, the company launched an investigation, obtained the help of a leading cyber security forensics firm, contacted law enforcement, and is taking appropriate measures to address the issue," the company said in a statement.

The business said in the notification that the Amazon systems do not connect to the systems at Whole Foods, so transactions on Amazon have not been impacted.

According to the notification, Whole Foods Market encourages its customers to closely monitor their payment card statements and report any unauthorized charges to the issuing bank.
