Elmhurst Woman Obstructs Cops In Domestic Disturbance Response: Police

In another case, a man was charged with battering a woman in an Elmhurst neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a woman obstructing arrest, domestic battery, property damage, a scam involving a so-called friend and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Obstructing arrest

  • A 26-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 500 block of West Third Street was arrested about 3 p.m. Tuesday at Third Street and Oaklawn Avenue on charges of obstructing an officer and resisting arrest. Police said they were responding to a domestic disturbance. Despite officers' requests, the woman refused to give a form of identfication and separate from the other person involved in the domestic investigation, police said. She was taken to the police station and then released.

Domestic battery

  • A 30-year-old Forest Park man was arrested on a domestic battery charge. Police said the incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 700 block of Colfax Avenue. Police said the man battered a woman during an argument. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Property damage

  • A 39-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue was arrested about 5 p.m. Wednesday at North Avenue and York Street on a charge of damaging public property. Police said the man urinated behind a closed business. He was also wanted on a DuPage County warrant charging failure to appear in court. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A resident in the 500 block of West Babcock Avenue has been sending money to whom she thought was a friend in Philadelphia. However, her husband told police Tuesday that he thought his wife was the victim of a scam.

DUI

  • A 19-year-old Western Springs man was arrested about 3 a.m. Monday at York and Lake streets on charges of DUI, speeding, driving without insurance, possessing open alcohol and consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 45-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 9 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of North York Street on a DUI charge. Police said an officer saw the man asleep behind the wheel while it was running. The man was described as heavily intoxicated. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 34-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 200 block of North Geneva Avenue was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at Route 83 and Interstate 290 on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and driving an insured car. She was taken to the police station and then released.
