Elmhurst's NO FRiLLS FUN RUN to Benefit Local Fourth Grader
Funds raised from this year's run will benefit Marshall Bell, a fourth-grader at Lincoln School with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Don’t let the 13.1 or 6.55 mile label scare you away. The fourth annual NO FRiLLS FUN RUN is all about the fun and helping those in need. And, race organizers say the more the merrier.
On Sunday, March 1, the event kicks off at York Street. and heads down the Prairie Path at 8 a.m. Funds raised from this year’s run will benefit Marshall Bell, a fourth-grader at Lincoln School who is living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle degeneration.

Marshall’s family wants to make Marshall’s life easier, and is saving money to buy him things that have become necessities, like a wheelchair ramp, vehicle lift and home modifications to allow Marshall to manage better at home.
“One hundred percent of the profit is given to the family,” said Dawn Wheatland.

Wheatland and co-founder, Kristin Morrow, started NO FRiLLS as a way to give back to those in need throughout the community. “The Elmhurst community has been so gracious and generous, and every year we hope we can double our runners...pick your distance,” Wheatland said. “Even those who don’t want to run but who can donate or come to the after party are welcome.”
Registration will be held Thursday, Feb. 26 from 4-8 p.m. at Fleet Feet, 124 Schiller St., or register, donate or volunteer by contacting nofrillsfunrun@yahoo.com. The entry fee is $100 per runner or $75 per runner with teams of 10 or more people.
Race day registration will open at 7 a.m. at Olympia Chiropractic and Physical Therapy, 533 S. York St. The fee includes a goodie bag with t-shirt, fleece hat, coupons and more. Participants also will enjoy burgers at the HB Jones after party, two free raffle tickets, and the chance to win some awesome prizes.
