Explosives In Elmhurst Neighborhood Given To Bomb Squad: Police

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving powerful firecrackers, a dog bite, a theft of jeans and a broken window. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Bomb squad called

  • A man in the 200 block of South Scott Street told police Tuesday that he was cleaning out his father's belongings and found a container of M-80s, which are powerful firecrackers. The DuPage County Sheriff's Department's bomb squad took possession of the explosives.

Dog bite

  • A woman told police that she was walking her dog when a loose dog bit hers about 5 p.m. Monday at West and Armitage avenues. A bite report was filed with DuPage County Animal Services.

Jeans theft

  • Two people stole Levi's jeans and a White Sox hoodie about 7 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

  • The back window of a Chevy Express van was broken overnight Monday at Rotech of Elmhurst, 747 N. Church St. Nothing appeared to be stolen.
