Fake Doctor, Assault: Elmhurst Cops

A person claiming to be a doctor said he was filling a prescription for a customer, police said.

ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled calls involving a fake doctor, an assault, domestic battery, a surrendered gun, harassment, falls, converter thefts and tire damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Fake doctor

  • A person claiming to be a doctor showed up about 4:30 p.m. Monday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. The suspect said he was filling a prescription for a customer. The prescription was not filled, and the suspect never showed up to retrieve it.

Assault

  • A person told police that he was assaulted about 5 p.m. Monday during an event in the 100 block of West North Avenue. An investigation is pending.

Domestic battery

  • A domestic disturbance occurred about 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East First Street. Two people got into an argument going home from Elmhurst Hospital. The suspect scratched the victim. The suspect will be charged with two counts of domestic battery. An arrest warrant has been issued.

Gun surrendered

  • A person in the 400 block of West Vallette Street surrendered his firearm owner's identification, or FOID, card Monday. It was given up at the direction of state police.

Falls

  • A man fell while attempting to step into his work vehicle about 7 a.m. Monday at the city's public works garage. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
  • A man slipped and fell on ice about 9 a.m. Monday near the police station in the 100 block of East First Street. He reported an injury to his right side, but refused medical treatment.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 300 block of West Fremont Avenue told police Monday that a suspect continues to show up at her house to speak with her. The suspect was served with a no-trespass notice.

Converter thefts

  • Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, reported a suspicious car on surveillance video that parked next to several cars in the parking lot between 4 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. Two vehicle owners later told hospital security that their catalytic converters had been stolen.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2021 Nissan on Jan. 21 and Jan. 22 behind Enterprise Leasing, 896 N. York St. The report was filed Wednesday.

Tire damage

  • A tire was damaged between Friday and Saturday nights in a rear parking lot in the 300 block of South West Avenue. The victim suspects a neighbor was responsible. An officer attempted to contact the suspect.

Stolen license plate

  • A resident in the 200 block of East Forest Avenue told police Tuesday that his front license plate was missing from his black Infiniti. He has received numerous video toll notifications of his license plate on a suspect's car.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a silver Infiniti about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at North and Berteau. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290, from North Avenue.

DUI

  • Jesus Carrera, 58, of Villa Park, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Monday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and failure to signal. He was released on bond.

Warrant

  • Jarod Canchola, 21, of Hodgkins, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles and Arlington on a DuPage County warrant and charges of driving with a suspended license and driving with only one headlight. He was released on bond.
