This Fast Food Chain Coming Near Elmhurst

ELMHURST, IL — Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen plans to open a restaurant at 743 W. North Ave. in Villa Park, about 1.8 miles away from Elmhurst city limits.

That would make it the closest Popeyes to Elmhurst. Now, the nearest ones are in Addison and Melrose (with the restaurants both 2.9 miles from Elmhurst city limits), Bensenville (3 miles) and Lombard (3.4 miles).

The Villa Park Popeyes would be near Safari Land. An opening date has not been announced.

Villa Park's community development director, Consuelo Arguilles, told the Daily Herald recently that the chain plans to open the local restaurant as soon as possible.

"The general contractor expects to complete the project and open by the end of summer or early fall," Arguilles said to the newspaper.

Popeyes has 3,400 restaurants in 29 countries, according to QSR magazine. Illinois has 138 locations. The chain started in a New Orleans suburb in 1972 and is now based in Miami.
