Woman Dies, 2 Toddlers Hurt In Elmhurst Head-On Crash: Police

Police said she drifted over the center line and struck an oncoming car.

ELMHURST, IL – A woman died after her car drifted over the center line and struck an oncoming car early Wednesday morning died on St. Charles Road near Hill Avenue, Elmhurst police said

Shortly after 5 a.m., the woman was headed east on St. Charles in a Chevrolet SUV with a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl when she went over the center line, according to a police news release. She hit a westbound Audi SUV, whose driver, a woman, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for serious injuries, police said. She had no passengers.

The children, who suffered serious injuries, were taken to Loyola University Medical Center, police said.

Police said they are withholding the name of the woman who died to ensure proper notification of her family.

The crash remains under investigation by Elmhurst police and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office. Anyone with information about it is asked to call Elmhurst police at 630-530-3050.
