Fewer Elmhurst Students Have Virus: Report

Only one of the district's schools saw an increase in cases last week.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst School District 205 saw yet another decline in the number of students and staff with confirmed cases of the coronavirus, according to its latest report.

As of last Friday, 43 students had the coronavirus, amounting to half a percent of the student body. That's down from 71 cases a week earlier.

Among employees, the district reported four cases Friday, down from 19 a week before. Three weeks ago, 36 employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

All but one school saw a decline in cases or stayed the same last week. Jackson Elementary School's cases increased by one, to six.

According to the latest numbers, no students were quarantined as the result of close contacts with those with the coronavirus outside school. That's down from 22 the previous week.

As of Friday, no students were reported quarantined in the previous week as the result of close contacts in the district's schools.

According to District 205, 56 percent of students district-wide are vaccinated.
