Congrats to all local runners who tackled the 26.2-mile race Sunday in Chicago!

The first local runners have crossed the finish line at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Sunday.
James Akita was the first Elmhurst resident to finish the 26.2-mile race in Chicago Sunday, according to unofficial results posted on the Chicago Marathon website. He crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 2:32.50. Maria Lindberg was the first female Elmhurst resident to cross the finish line. She finished with an unofficial time of 3:08.16.
Meanwhile, Dickson Chumba, 28, of Kenya, was the overall winner of the race with an unofficial time of 2:09:25, according to Runner’s World. Florence Kiplagat, 28, also from Kenya, won the woman’s race with an unofficial time of 2:23.33, according to WGN TV. Each of the winners will receive $10,000.
