Fire Destroys Home, Hospitalizes Elmhurst Man
At 2:49 a.m. April 16, the Elmhurst Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the 400 block of East Park Street.

ELMHURST, IL - A house fire in the middle of the night has destroyed a home and burned a man on 40 percent of his body, the fire department said. At 2:49 a.m. April 16, the Elmhurst Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the 400 block of East Park Street.
The fire department said when they arrived they found a split level single-family home wire fire and smoke showing.
According to the fire department, four people were in the home at the time of the fire, and all four were evacuated. However, one adult male suffered burns to approximately 40 percent of his body, and was transported to Loyola Hospital's burn unit.

The fire department said the home is uninhabitable and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
