Fire Forces Closure Of Villa Park Curling Club
The group said the fire's cause remains a mystery. It is raising money online.

VILLA PARK, IL – A curling club was forced to close for the time being after a fire on Monday in a Villa Park strip mall.
The Windy City Curling Club is at 146 Roosevelt Road.
"While our awesome Villa Park Fire Department saved the building, a lot of smoke and water came down from above, right into our space," the club said on a GoFundMe page. "Flooding caused extensive damage to just about everywhere, including our Ice House."

The statement continued, "In the Warm Room, our couches and furniture were soaked, and it's not clear if they can be saved. The water also made it all the way into the locker rooms where players keep their equipment, and some of it was ruined."
The club is raising money on GoFundMe. As of Wednesday afternoon, $22,944 had been donated. The goal is $50,000.

According to the page, the club will be out of commission for at least a number of weeks.
The club said it needs new streaming equipment, furniture and lockers. Some construction work may be needed as well, the group said.
"The cause of the fire in the space above us is still a mystery, so we're trying to figure out whose insurance will pay - and what it'll cover," the club said.
